A huge thank you to everyone who entered our Share Your Solatube Story competition.

We were blown away by the response and loved reading your stories. From brightening dark hallways and laundries to transforming forgotten spaces into favourite family rooms, every entry showed the difference natural daylight can make.

Choosing our Best Story & Photo winner wasn't easy, and every submission reminded us why we love helping Kiwi homeowners bring more natural light into their homes.

Joseph Erceg – Auckland

Joseph's entry stood out for its inspiring transformation of a space that had previously gone unused.

"What was once a dark, windowless storage room hidden beneath our home is now a bright, welcoming living space for the whole family. Installed through a bedroom cupboard above, the Solatube channels natural daylight into a place that once had none, transforming an unused area into a much-loved living room."

In addition to our major prize winner, we randomly selected three more winners from all eligible entries.

Shona Phillips – Hawera, Taranaki

Shona shared how her Solatube transformed some of the darkest areas of her home.

"The best thing we have done. I'm always thinking someone's left the light on! It made our kitchen so much lighter and brighter. Our hallway was always dark and we always had to switch the lights on just to get things out of the cupboard... not anymore. Highly recommend having Solatubes."

Robyn O'Donnell – Motueka

Robyn's photos showed just how effective natural daylight can be—even on a wet, overcast day.

"Photo one shows our laundry at the back of the garage at 9am on a wet, dull day, lit beautifully by our Solatube. Photo two shows the same room with the electric lights turned on — completely unnecessary!"

Karen Clare – Tauranga

Karen shared how Solatube transformed both her hallway and ensuite, making everyday life that little bit easier.

"Without doubt, the best home improvement ever! Our long hallway and linen cupboard always needed lights before the Solatube was installed. Now they're only needed at night. Our windowless ensuite became so bright that for weeks we kept thinking someone had left the lights on."
